I was so very honored to have a chance to work in La Crosse, WI and even more honored that one of my amazing special care nurses invited me to hang out with her and her husband on a wintery hike to find icicles alongside one of my favorite neonatal nurse practitioners. Located about an hour southwest of the little riverside college town of La Crosse, Kickapoo Valley Reserve is an 8,600-acre tract of public land with lots of hiking, resources and recreational activities to be enjoyed anytime of year. Of course, I’m partial to the winter and loved being able to go to look for the icicles in the midst of January. Unfortunately, I definitely got to showcase my non winter-bred roots and slide into a snow ditch….. But, enough about that one. Also, I saw more than a dozen Amish buggies horsing around! So fancy.
