LocumVentures: Lexington, Concord, and Waldon Pond State Reservation (Boston, MA)

If you’re going to be in Boston, obviously you need to go to the Minute Man Historical Park. Now, personally, I’m not a big history buff, but I thought it was super cool to see some parts of the country and remnants of stories I’ve only heard about before in schoolbooks. I chose to go just to Lexington and Concord. There’s also some really good food abound btw. On my way around the area, also the Waldon Pond State Reservation is also amazingly worth the visit and has one of the most peaceful hikes around… Well, unless two annoying girls are talking about their break-ups loudly as they rumble through the forest behind you…

Lexington and Concord

“The shot heard round the world.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Concord Hymn” (1837)

Waldon Park State Reservation

Also located in Concord, the Waldon Park State Reservation is basically 300 acres of land that served as the former home of Henry David Thoreau and led to the inspiration for his book Walden. Total hike is 1.7 miles unless you turn off once you get to the house which is 1.0 miles. Can take a self-guided tour also which is the easiest and most leisurely path. I spent a while sitting on the beach in March of 2023 and it was a little chilly and relaxing, but during the summer I’m sure it gets busy with tourists going swimming.
