Honestly, I could write for ages about Maine and my time spent there – (See all my MAINE POSTS here!). During the summer of 2021 I found myself passing through Augusta, Maine en route to another job in Central Maine in the amazing snowbird town of Bridgton (population 5,000). Months later I was told of a hospital with a new need and on January 3rd, 2022, surreptitiously found myself back in the same small town of 20,000 people embarking on my Orientation for a new job that would change my life. At the time, as most locum tenens work goes, I thought I would be serving the role of a temporary substitute. I planned to be there for no more than 3 or 4 months, and instead, was needed for much longer than a full year. In that time, I fell madly in love with all of it. From the ice and the snow, to the farmers markets, to the amazing seaside summer and endless lobster rolls, the state made an unreal impression on me. Nestled approximately 1 hour equidistant from Portland and Bangor in Central Maine, I met some of the most brilliant, dedicated and efficient doctor and nurses at this community hospital located in the Capital city of Maine. As I told my department director as my schedule started to change towards the end of 2022, this job lost the feeling of a locum tenens months ago. I felt at home here, I finally felt like I fit in, and it was the hardest decision ever to leave. I sincerely hope I end up back in Maine, and will cherish the people, the friendships and the learning I have absorbed from this unassuming place. I worked almost an entire year as an exclusive nocturnist and got to dive deeper into a different part f myself and recognize new importances for my life. This changed me. From Trevor, With Love.

Augusta, although the Capital, like many state capitals, is pretty small. Nearby was the small town of Hallowell that I spent a lot of time at, especially visiting my favorite coffee shop Traverse Coffee Co. Every town can be beautiful if you open your eyes to it. If you come go to Vaughan Woods (aka Hobbitland) and Viles Arboretum.
